Danielle Delomas CD(DONA)
More often than not, doulas become doulas because of a positive personal birth experience that they want to help recreate for other families. Danielle's story is unique. After her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, Danielle felt deserted by her care providers and isolated by her heartache and pain. She was desperate to connect with someone to provide unwavering, unbiased support during the miscarriage process and through her next pregnancy. She discovered the magic of doulas, and after reading several stories and testimonials about birth doula support, she decided to become one herself.
Two years later, Danielle continues to identify strongly with mothers and partners experiencing pregnancy after loss. She has seen, both first-hand and through her clients, how a loss changes the perspective of a pregnant woman during her rainbow pregnancy: there is more anxiety, more guilt, and a good deal of emotion to work through on the journey to becoming a mother. Special care and attention must be paid to these emotions, both during pregnancy, and then in labor and birth. Danielle is passionate about creating birth experiences for these mothers that honor and respect their loss while also celebrating the new life being brought Earthside. Prior to working with families as a birth doula Danielle managed a team of technicians at Apple, Inc. and worked as a small business consultant. Because of this experience, she is very organized and goal-oriented, and believes solid preparation is the key to a successful outcome! Danielle has been supporting families as a professional birth doula for over two years both in Ohio and Idaho. She served as a hospital birth doula in the Mount Carmel Health System in Central Ohio, where she supported unmedicated births, medical inductions, Cesarean births, spontaneous labors, and births with epidurals. Danielle has a realistic approach towards childbirth: the only way OUT is THROUGH! She is a strong advocate for working WITH care providers to create safe, empowering, and memorable birth experiences for her clients. She believes birth is an extremely unique and important experience in our lives- one that deserves methodical preparation, evidence-based support, and respect. Danielle is currently accepting clients with Sweet Pea Birth Company for 2019. |
I feel lucky to truly be working in my dream industry! Supporting women and their families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum is an honor. I would love the opportunity to become a part of YOUR team this year!
My services include prenatal education, hospital birth doula support, birth center birth doula support, and postpartum support. With an extensive background in management and business development, my approach to birth is methodical. I believe thorough preparation through prenatal education and birth plan formation leads to birth experiences that leave women feeling empowered, satisfied, and supported. Even when birth does not go to plan (and it rarely does!), being prepared to navigate the unexpected and having a doula close by to help you make informed decisions makes all the difference! Our prenatal sessions will focus on surviving and thriving in early and active labor. We'll practice comfort measures, form a plan for both rest & activity, and discuss your birth setting in detail. I enjoy collaborating with care providers to ensure my clients have a great birth experience. I am happy to attend an appointment with you prenatally to meet your doctor or midwife if I have not worked with them already! During labor I will join you at the onset of active labor at your birth location. My scope of practice includes continuous physical, emotional and informational support. *Physical Support: position changes, counter pressure, massage, hydrotherapy, music, rhythm & ritual, Rebozo, breastfeeding support *Emotional Support: encouragement, validation, intuition, reminders of what's normal during labor, support for your partner *Informational Support: helping you with informed decision making, providing evidence-based information, facilitating communication between you and your care team I am also happy to take photos with your phone & camera at your request!
