Sariah Larsen CD(DONA)
Sariah is a certified birth doula from Meridian. From a young age, she’s had a natural captivation with careers involving supporting the body, as well as a knack for being good with kids and babies. After being introduced to the world of birth shortly after graduating high school, there wasn’t a doubt that supporting mothers in labor was her calling. Currently a nanny, Sariah dreams of one day being a full-time doula and mother.
A positive birth experience is made more possible with a source of support, advocacy, education, validation, and comfort. My goal as a doula is to nurture the mind, body, and spirit of pregnant mothers to equip them with the tools needed for an empowering and positive birth experience. Prenatally, I meet with my clients in their homes to provide non-medical education on the birth process, demonstrate and practice comfort measures, and create the birth plan. My clients are informed of their choices for birth care and given a questionnaire where they can easily select their preferences for everything from cervical exams to whether they’d like to try to catch their own baby. These preferences are compiled into a “summarized” birth plan, which is handed off to the healthcare provider. I’m well-versed in positions and exercises that support a functional fetal position and descent through the pelvis. I utilize these techniques prenatally and during labor, both to encourage an optimal fetal position, and a smooth transition through each station in the pelvis. This may decrease the chances of complications and tearing, as well as keep labor progressing as normal. I’m also passionate about maternal nutrition throughout the childbearing year. My service package includes a postpartum goodie basket featuring a homemade, organic postpartum meal, a batch of delicious and nutritious lactation cookies, and a surprise gift! I also offer an add-on herbal tea package to support prenatal preparation and postpartum recovery. While preparation, labor-progress support, and postpartum nurturing are key factors in my services, I also prioritize my client’s comfort during labor. I’m trained in multiple comfort measures that are proven to increase birth satisfaction and decrease discomfort. I spend prenatal meetings demonstrating and practicing comfort techniques with my clients to find what is most comforting and relieving to them. A major focus during this is preparing the partner to support labor effectively and confidently! My “birth bag” is stocked with specialty doula tools to assist comfort measures and positions. Whatever your preferences and circumstances, I strive to help facilitate the birth experience that’s right for you. |
